PRESIDENT.
Gordon Brice is the current Club President for 2023 – 2024. His job is to keep in check the enthusiasm of 19 members. He chairs most meetings and supervises a number specific tasks like Community Service.
EXCHANGE PROGRAM.
The Club supports the advancement of youth education in many capacities. It has facilitated both outbound and inbound student exchanges for many years. Currently it is involved with a Short Term Exchange arrangement with New Zealand.
SHARED VALUES.
The common glue that binds all Rotarians is the Four Way Test that asks four questions. Is it the TRUTH? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
SHELTERBOXES.
These are emergency survival kits that are quickly air lifted to disaster areas through unique rotary connections around the globe. Each kit is valued around $1,000. Our most recent donation was sent to the earthquake victims in Nepal. More.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP
This club is active in searching out young people and sponsoring them to do leadership programs. Ryla and Rypen are acronyms for these activities. There’s more! We also sponsor youth to get access to things like the National Science Forum.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. Whether assisting with bushfire reconstruction, cleaning a roadside, catering for school fairs, fundraising for CFS equipment, or building parks and gardens, the Onkaparinga club is actively involved in projects that contribute to the locality and beyond. Let us know if you have an idea.
DISTRICT 9510. The local club is part of a wider geographical area known as 9510. The District Committee provides leadership that binds clubs in SA (plus Mildura) and also advocates to the international team to give matching grants to supplement local projects. Website.
INTERNATIONAL & FOUNDATION
Each club is attached to the international framework and the Foundation is managed at that level. Funds (some from Bill & Linda Gates) are used to support educational and cultural programs around the globe, not to mention the huge Polio campaign. Our Club has augmented its spending from this fund to buy a truck for use in Brazil. Website.
